What is a facsimile edition book?
A book in facsimile edition is the printed reproduction of a book, generally made from a copy of a rare or out-of-print work, or in the case where the copy of the original edition is so damaged that only a copy can preserve its content and form.
Is a facsimile book piracy?
Ars Ligatoria provides the service of printing and binding facsimile books, whether works in the public domain or not. As a service provider, we do not sell facsimiles of copyrighted works.
In the case of copyrighted books, when ordering the printing and binding of a work in facsimile, neither the client nor Ars Ligatoria incurs the crime of piracy, as long as the request for this service by the client is not intended for the resale of the material printed and bound.
We understand the importance of preserving rare works because of their significant historical, cultural or sentimental value.
As publishers are often not interested in reissuing old works due to the unfeasibility of economic return or other reasons, our services seek to fill this gap.
Custom binding
When ordering a binding from us, you can choose from the binding models offered: the type of leather, color, gilding style, and other details that will make the binding unique and exclusive.
We employ traditional binding techniques, combined with high quality materials, such as genuine leather, acid-free paper, pigmented inks, all to guarantee the durability and resistance of the binding. Furthermore, the works are printed in such a way as to preserve the characteristics of the original edition.
